I love the flexibility and the freedom of being an entrepreneur. I love that it takes
creativity and passion. It also takes faith, patience and perseverance. With hard work comes a level of success and satisfaction
that cannot be surpassed.
For my entire life, I have had an entrepreneurial spirit. I think my first experience of
making money on my own was going door-to-door as a third grader selling YMCA thin mints to earn my way to camp. It was fun
talking to all sorts of people and I got the taste of success as I realized the growing fistful of dollars the more homes
I visited. Following that came money-making responsibilities of dogsitting and babysitting.
As I grew into adulthood, I sold Current stationery door-to-door on my college campus
(that was back before email, when students still actually hand-wrote notes home). After I was married, I became an Avon lady.
When the kids were small, I sold Creative Expressions (needlecraft kits) and Discovery Toys.
Over the years, I became a graphic designer and honed my skills working for a weekly
advertising magazine. I realized that graphic design was something I could do on my own, and began my own business called
Graphic Update. My particular passion was helping small businesses, entrepreneurs like myself, with their print advertising
needs.
In my most recent years, I have worked
in print communications for Autumn Ridge Church. Then in the summer of 2007, my very dear father (also an entrepreneur) died
of cancer. He was a man who loved God and loved people. His death forced a time of reflection and reassessment for me. I was
reminded that life is short, and that I must take my life off “auto-pilot” and set some goals to more intentionally
follow my dreams.
One of my passions includes
helping people like me who are looking for how to realize their dreams. Because of this, I trained under Valerie Young with Changing Course and became an "Outside the Job Box"
Career Consultant. (See changingcourse.com) I help people find ways to do the things they love and make money - outside of the traditional cubicle world of work.
For this reason I launched Creative Career Paths. I love the idea of encouraging people
to take steps toward living their dreams. I want to help you enjoy more fulfillment in your life!
I am currently taking training with Coach Training Alliance (coachtrainingalliance.com)
to become a Certified Life Coach. I am excited to have the opportunity to encourage people in the broader scope of living
life with more joy and purpose.
